August 4, 2010 – Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Georgia Port Authority & The National Port Authority of Liberia. The Georgia Ports Authority and Liberia National Port Authority signed an Historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Savannah, Ga., on Wednesday.  The Honorary Consul General worked closely with the Managing Director of the Liberian Port, Matilda Parker and the Georgia Port Authority Executive Director, Curtis Foltz and will serve as the official liaison between the two entities. The MOU is the first for the Georgia Port Authority on the Continent of Africa.  Expectations are that trade between Liberia and Georgia will be on the upswing in the near-term.

Georgia Ports Authority and Liberia National Port Authority
to Sign Historic Memorandum of Understanding

Savannah, Ga., July 30, 2010 – The Georgia Ports Authority and the Liberia National Port Authority will sign a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday, August 4, 2010.

GPA’s Executive Director Curtis J. Foltz, Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Liberia Cynthia Blandford Nash, the Managing Director from the Port Authority of Liberia, Matilda Parker and elected officials will speak before the signing ceremony, which will be followed by a port tour.

The MOU agreement provides both parties the opportunity to promote a strong working relationship and exchange information and expertise in the areas of marketing, operations and information technology. The agreement also calls for concerted efforts to expand international trade by supporting both parties’ market presence in their respective countries and with common customers.

The GPA also has similar strategic partnerships with the Suez Canal Authority, Panama Canal Authority, Shanghai International Port Group, Sydney Ports Corporation, the Port of Veracruz and the Port of Shimizu in Japan.
